Important things to do this month…

Dear College Channel members,

Congratulations to our High School Graduates! You made it! We hope you’re all looking forward to a relaxing summer and getting together with friends and family.

Rising seniors, use your time wisely to prepare for your college applications and the upcoming school year.

And all students should review our checklist for July.

Here are some things to focus on this month:

  • We are so proud of our graduating seniors! Check out their final college choices.
  • Here are your Ten Tips of the Month.
  • Check out our Summer/Fall Timeline for rising seniors.
  • Rising seniors, continue to research colleges that interest you. Platinum members: If you haven’t already, please get in touch with Jan via email for a personalized college list.
  • Rising seniors, this is a great time to start Brainstorming Your College Essay. The Common App essay prompts will be the same as last year, with a new optional “Challenges and Circumstances” question. Platinum members, please send us a rough draft via Google Docs or contact Jan to schedule a brainstorming session.
  • Rising seniors, set up an account and start filling out the Common App. Set up your account now. It will close on July 28th, and it will roll over into the new refreshed app on August 1.
  • Rising seniors, ask two academic teachers for letters of recommendation and use this Recommender Form
    to help them write an impactful letter
  • Keep up your test prep! Use your Methodize Online Test Prep!
  • Keep track of all your activities and start to create a resume. You can use the Resume Builder in Naviance.
  • Here are the latest SAT and ACT Test Dates
    for 2025-2026. Registration for the August 23rd SAT Exam is open until 8/8. Registration for the September 6th ACT Exam is open until 8/1. Read our tips to Gear UP for the SAT/ACT.
